You know that a lot of the fanciful jobs that are available these days are meant for educational elites. Without a sound educational background, you might never be able to get one of those. So what if you are over thirty? There are people at age fifty who are still studying. Why shouldn’t you?
There's a lot you can still do with your life by getting some education, even as an adult. You can still get that dream job you always wanted, or get licensed to start up that business that has always been your dream. Adult education is all about possibilities.
You cannot deny the fact that education – your level of it – is one very vital criterion that anyone will take a look at before they employ you. Some don’t even take a look at you for a non-skilled job if you don’t have basics. But you don’t have to live with that; you can still go to school and come out better than before.
A friend told me this when I was considering adult education - All my life, growing up, my dad couldn't afford to give us the right kind of education, but he got us as far as 100-hour a week job could. Now I'm putting myself through med school with my bartender job. I'm forty next month, but I don't think I'm too old for it. Neither should you.
By the time you have been through high school and college, you are no longer a kid. Any more schooling you want to do has to be put down as adult education. A lot of the time, it means you are going to have to be the person to pay your fees all through.
If your company requires someone to fill a suddenly vacant position at a senior level, it would be a shame if they had to go hire someone else from the outside, while people like you who have been there for ages don't get taken to fill such a position. That is why you ought to be doing some more studying to qualify you for that rank, even though you are past what some people will call the ‘scholarly' age.
It is important that you get some adult education to top off the qualifications you already have. It increases your chances for better jobs and some promotion on your way to the end of your life.
Some job descriptions are mean and straight. They make it quite clear that you are not going to be getting them if you are not qualified on paper. People like to take the trouble to go studying for the better credits. You could too, age notwithstanding.
