Away from the stresses of city life, Darjeeling offers a welcome respite to weary minds. There are some amazing places you can visit via Darjeeling tour packages for some much-needed peace and quiet. These include the Salugara Monastery and the Japanes Peace Pagoda. The Salugura Monastery can be found at a distance of 13 kms from Bagdogra, known as the gateway to Darjeeling. Legend has it that the hills around the monastery actively protect the monastery from both physical and spiritual harm. The monastery is famous for its marvellous Buddhist stupas. In fact, the most famous attraction of the monastery is a huge 110-foot stupa. This stupa in particular is said to have been founded by Kalu Rinpoche, a Tibetan Lama. Apart from its stupas, the monastery is also home to beautiful relics and idols. The Japanese Peace Pagoda was built by a Japanese Buddhist monk named Nichidatsu Fuji. The magnificent 28.5 metre-high white structure with golden sculptures serves as a symbol to promote world peace and is surrounded by wonderful scenery.
