Powering the cruises and smaller boats through the coastal waters can be the idea of fun for many people. Although it is not possible for everyone to own a yacht or boat of their own, people can work out the lack of it by going through the RYA day skipper course. Such a course will allow them to handle the boats with ease and confidence and add flavour to the trips to various points into the sea. Learning to handle the boats will require proper training and RYA day skipper training can be the most essential and basic criterion to start using the boats. In this way, people can ensure that they are skippering a boat or yacht, as was their dream, even though they haven’t bought one of these vessels.

• Giving due attention to basics – As a RYA day skipper, one has to be competent enough to handle the boat in the water, at least in the coastal part in the day time. By handling is meant the basic minimum features like anchoring, taking the boat to the side, allowing it to be left into the water and being conversant with the engine. This is one of the commonest features that can be taken care of by the trainees to make sure that they are getting the most out of these programs and courses.

• Having basic qualifications – Undertaking the various levels required for going through the RYA day skipper course should be completed with sincerity and dedication. Prior to being a day skipper, one should have the basic qualification of helmsman, which are possibly one or two days of course. There is also the need of 5 days, 100 miles and few hours in the night experience with yacht or powerboat. So, with the requisite amount under the belt, it is possible to go for people to become RYA day skipper.

• Navigating in the sea – Nautical navigation of the sea is an essential part of sailing a boat or yacht or any kind of power vessel. Ability to measure the distance and speed in the water is an important part of being a day skipper. This is an essential part of the training of day skipper, although these are included under the theoretical sections of the shorebased courses.

• Radio communication – Most of the day skipper trainees should also take up the VHF radio courses, which will allow them to coordinate with the shore and would be seen as very essential during emergencies. Even if everything about the boats is known, the radio communication courses should be done as part of the RYA day skipper course or can be pursued independently for a few days.

• Course brings convenience – Becoming a day skipper in a boat, especially the ones with power motors, is a difficult task than it appears to be. People can immediately start going out with their boats, after completing the courses.
Competency level can be highly accentuated and modified if the training courses are done according to the rules laid down by Royal Yacht Association and RYA courses are supposedly the best. So, being trained as RYA day skipper will be in the benefit.

There will be plenty of opportunities at hand, if people are trained as RYA day skipper. This will allow them to easily navigate their personal boats or will give them opportunities to get jobs and be hired for sailing other powerboats. In such scenario, it is worth to go through the RYA day skipper course, if being in the waters gives happiness.
