Any mother will tell you the joys of being a parent: Some of the rewards of parenthood is watching them grow, learn through play, and observing developmental milestones. These milestones don't just happen. They're carefully cultivated and developed. For kids, discovering through play ensures that fundamental cognitive abilities take effect. Infants have the classic baby toys such as rattles, stuffed animals and mobiles. Toddlers have slightly more sophisticated toys that focus on logical reasoning. Kindergarten-age child toys aim to nurture imagination and creativity in the child. As the child grows, he will pass through all of those developmental stages, so you better have age suitable child toys on hand that will grow with him.

In the first months of life, infant's eyes are still adjusting. He has never heard or seen anything before, with the whole world a new and great, but indistinct mystery. Eye focus is reduced, and muscular coordination is worse. That is why toys such as mobiles and rattles are often used with newborn babies. A mobile provides something to look at and focus on when it's dangling above the baby, directly in his sight. The infant develops some focusing skills after prolonged exposure. And some muscle coordination is also developing.

You have probably seen an infant reaching for the toy he likes on a mobile. While doing this, he is gaining a sense of perspective. Rattles too, are a very good child toys for babies learning muscle coordination. They also teach him that when he makes an action, there is a reaction. The sounds coming from a rattle also encourage to recognize and develop sounds.

While these toys do help basic childhood skills, they don't complete them. As a child enters the toddler stage, he is starting to use his mind. Logistical child toys help to learn reason and developing perceptive skills. For example, when your little one is constructing a seemingly odd looking house from building blocks, he is learning about weight distribution, structure, and perception. The colored blocks also help develop his creative skills.

By the pre-school age, young kids have acquired most of these skills. It is then time for play and creativeness, and also studious learning. Sometimes, electronic child toys are deemed to spoil kids these days. However, they can also offer some of the same lessons that they teach them in school. There exist a lot of companies today that create video games in which children can learn reading, arithmetic, and spelling skills, which are normally used in kindergarten classrooms.

With the selection of child toys available in the market today, you can surely find one for your kid's age group. You may find one that is unique, but not age appropriate for a few more years. You can get it now if you really like it.
